  • Quality Steven Svmbersky Hang Out Time, 5/26

Quimby’s Bookstore founder Steven Svymbersky is visiting from Quimby’s Bookstore NYC! He’ll hang out all day with us on Thurs, May 26th from noon to 6pm, perhaps regaling us in the City of the Big Shoulders with stories of bookselling in the Big Apple, or perhaps reminiscing about Wicker Park in the 90s. Who’s to say? Come, say hi and have a bitch session about how much cooler this neighborhood used to be.

    Facebook invite here.

Zine Club Chicago Online: Cut-and-Paste Conundrums Edition
7:30 p.m. CT Tuesday, May 24 on Zoom
    Free!

We all have those zines in our collections … the ones that represent some sort of mystery. Perhaps we can’t remember where we picked up a particular title, or we wish we could find out more about an enigmatic zinemaker. Or maybe the zine’s content explores a puzzling subject. This month, Zine Club Chicago will revel in (any possibly even unravel) the questions posed by the most intriguing zines we own.

Grab your favorite cryptic zines, BYOS(nacks), and join us on Zoom for Zine Club Chicago Online: Cut-and-Paste Conundrums Edition at 7:30 p.m. CT Tuesday, May 24!

** RSVP required ** We want to make sure that our online Zine Club Chicago events are a safe space, so we won’t be releasing the Zoom link publicly. If you’d like to attend, please email zineclubchicago@gmail.com to RSVP by 9 p.m. CT Monday, May 23 (the evening before our event). We’ll email you the Zoom link by 5 p.m. CT on Tuesday, May 24.

Zine newbies and longtime enthusiasts alike are always welcome at Zine Club Chicago, the city’s only book club-style event for people who read zines. This free monthly series is produced by Cynthia E. Hanifin and sponsored by Quimby’s Bookstore. Anna Jo Beck designs our monthly flyers, created our logo, and made our Zine Club Chicago Shout-Outs site, where folks can peruse and recommend zines we’ve discussed at our events.

Each store creates its own unique events—including guest authors, special kids’ story times, readings, contests, giveaways, and special sales.
